The American Legion Mustang Post 353 meets at the Mustang Senior Center on N Mustang Road the 2nd Thursday of every month. The meeting starts at 1900. We are currently 170 members strong.

Introduction of guests : Cord Fowler of Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight, , Dale Simpson was presented a letter of appreciation, new member John Farris spoke about OK Military Hall of Fame.

September 2019  minutes accepted without reading

Sick call:  Dale Halsey, Douthits, Ralph Burton, Jerry Sexton, Jan Sherrick, Don Kuntze, Marc Marcaurelle, Randy Allen, Mickey White, Jan Hayward, George Kokendoffer

Finance Officer report:  Gen fund $2655.90; Ave of Flags 9205; savings $10,991.96.  Report filed.

Americanism fund 10,224.35.

Honor Guard report:  no funerals last month.

Service Officer:  1 case working, 3cases resolved.

Avenue of Flags report:  fundraiser through the schools is completed ( 123 letters returned with school donations).  Avenue of Flags account can now repay the post’s initial loan of 2112.07 to have flyers printed.  We will continue to reach out to local merchants by letters for donations..

Poppy  Committee report:  Conley Wicker will organize schedule for November 9 at WalMart.

Blood Donor report:  John Traffansedt reported our goal was 28 units and they received 30 units.  Next blood drive will be December 12.

Membership report:  Encourage everyone to pay their dues

Scholarship report:  Will get forms to schools after Jan.1.

Boys State report:  We ask everyone to get the word out about Boys State.  Legion night is the Thursday of Boys State—encourage everyone to come out and see what the program is like, including parents Legionnaires, and friends.

Ten Gun raffle: We will have a table set up at Big Boys on October 19 at 0900.  See Don Lowe.

Nametags:  Please wear your nametag to meetings.  They can be purchased at Yukon Trophy or ordered through Emblem Sales.

Legion act:  all veterans that have served at least one day of active duty from Dec. 7, 1941 to present are eligible to be Legion members.   Male spouses of female veterans are now eligible to be members of the Auxiliary. Adjutant must still verify eligibility.

New business:

The Executive Committee discussed and approved Shop with an Officer $1000 donation.  Motion to donate $1000 by Paul Ray, second by John Traffanstedt, motion passed.

The Executive Committee recommends supporting the Pink Panthers girls soccer team by purchasing jerseys.  Motion to donate $256 by Marie Enderton, second by Conley Wicker, motion passed. 

October 17, 2019 is Mustang’s 50th birthday

Bronco Alley setup at 4:15 and runs from 5:00-6:30 PM.  If you can help, please be there.October dates are 10/11 Southmoore and last home game is 10/25 Owassso.

Veterans Day:  All schools have Veterans day programs on Nov. 11.  Please plan to attend as many as possible.

District 6A conference Saturday Oct 12 at El Reno Post 34 at 0900.

Salvation Army will begin bell ringing the day after Thanksgiving through December 24.Post will be recruiting volunteers.
